Starting my foster journey amidst a pandemic was a very me thing to do. It allowed for me to have lots of processing time. I wanted to make sure my head and my heart were both in the right frame of mind. I wrote in my journal about it, followed blogs and Instagram pages, researched as much as a could, read books, etc. I even filmed selfies talking out my feelings at each stage!

I know....I KNOW! I probably seem crazier than usual. We're all used to me sending a quick video with a funny filter and voiced over character, however, this has truly allowed me to be open and honest with myself. Most people at this stage are planning with their husband or wife, but I'm taking a different path. It's not right or wrong, better or worse, but it is different from the people I surround myself with. If that means I need to record myself to help me process and work through my emotions - heck I'm ready for my close up!

As I like to call them, "A Foster Mom Diaries" I can vent out those feelings in that quick moment and then schedule a phone call with someone, or now a coffee outside. The quick release of emotions are necessary, even if it means recording myself to no one but saving them for me so hopefully one day I can share this journey with someone else. I am able to see my excitements, nerves, fears, hopes, happiness, and more!

Emotions are a major part of life, and as I continue with my classes I'm realizing I need to make sure my emotions have an outlet, so I can be that outlet for the child or children that will be in my heart and home.
